Root Canals

A root canal is a dental procedure designed to save a tooth that has become severely decayed, infected, or damaged. Inside each tooth is soft tissue called the pulp, which contains nerves and blood vessels. When the pulp becomes inflamed or infected, it can cause severe pain and, if left untreated, may lead to an abscess or tooth loss. During a root canal, the infected pulp is carefully removed, the inside of the tooth is cleaned and disinfected, and then it is sealed with a filling material to prevent future infection. Often, a dental crown is placed afterward to restore the tooth’s strength and function. Root canals not only relieve pain but also preserve your natural tooth, helping you maintain a healthy, complete smile.
